Founded in 1991, the Zagreb Stock Exchange is the central trading place for securities and as such continues the tradition of the Zagreb Stock Exchange for goods and securities, which functioned from 1918 – 1946. The Zagreb Stock Exchange functions as a trading place for Stock exchange members who trade for their own accounts or for their clients, the owners of the stock. Members are dispersed throughout Croatia.Trading of securities (stocks and bonds) is conducted through an electronic trading system MOST. The brokerages, members of the exchange, are connected by special telecommunication links with the Exchange headquarters on Ksaver, through which they enter their sell or buy orders directly from their offices, thus creating transactions with other brokers. Therefore, there is no single physical place (a traditional trading floor) where the trade is conducted; rather, it is conducted by electronically connected traders. All brokers have access to the trading system in real time (without a time delay/shift) giving them equal footing regarding the simultaneous receipt of information about the current securities offer. Trading is open every work day from 10:00-16:00 (4 PM), and the trading results and daily stock prices are available to all interested parties through the daily press, specialized companies for the distribution of financial information as well as though the internet pages of the Stock Exchange: Daily report.Besides those channels, all interested parties may follow everyday trading of securities online, through the internet, via a special information channel named MOSTich. Only those securities which are listed on one of the markets of the Zagreb Stock Exchange can be traded on the Exchange.
