Way back in 1994, the SEC forced price transparency on the Muni industry. The agreement was if the Muni industry develop price transparency then Muni broker/dealers would not have to disclose commission mark-ups and mark-downs at point-of-sale or on confirmations. After more than ten years of delay, the Muni industry will finally begin releasing trade and price data on a real-time or 15-minute delay basis. MunicipalBonds needs to make this information available to all investors. MunicipalBonds has been posting available next-day Muni Market trade and price data since 2000.
