Acts Investment Advisors was established on 3 January 1997, specializing in investment management in the Korean financial market. As the first independent capital management company in Korea, Acts has provided investment management services to prestigious foreign institutional investors as well as to domestic institutions. Acts was incorporated into the Daesung Group on 1 September 2003. Staffed with professionals, most with analyst backgrounds, Acts has been committed to continuously introducing new ideas to meet the challenges of investing in the ever-changing Korean financial markets. Additionally, Acts adheres to a bottom-up approach in valuation, concentrating on individual companies through frequent company visits and thorough analysis. Acts also utilizes its expertise in Korean fixed-income products for a more diverse and effective asset allocation of its funds. Furthermore, Acts is actively involved in the Korean private equity sector. Acts role as an advisor to private equity funds covers all aspects of the private equity investment process from deal finding to due diligence. Acts has advised Able C&C (a cosmetic company), Enpia (a company specializing in providing MSP and CDN services) and Future Networks (a communication infrastructure and broadband player) in successfully receiving investments from AIG Global Investment, H&Q AP Korea and Scudder & Co., respectively. Additionally, Acts has participated in the consulting of Prudential Asset Management Asias Korea investments in Meritz Securities and GNG Telecom. In line with the increase in the level of investor sophistication and the need for a diversified line of investment products in Korea, Acts has entered the Alternative Investment Management business by establishing and managing Fund of Hedge Fund products. Via a joint partnership, we have launched our first fund in March of 2004 and have successfully launched a secondary fund in July of 2004. Currently, Acts, via the J/V, is co-managing approximately US$ 30 million and continues to market the existing products and develop and structure new and unique products for investors. Acts is a unique company in a way that it successfully incorporates the highly sophisticated valuation tools and experiences acquired from managing off-shore funds for foreign investors for many years with its first-hand experience in the Korean financial markets to produce solid results. Furthermore, its independence allows the company to be more objective and efficient in the investment process, without being limited by corporate ties or affiliation.
